I read "no" in a few articles, and it's not listed in the tech specs. I was really hoping they are wrong, and found this (where they seem to have found one):

No, Apple Watch Series 2 does not include a barometer.
Series 2 features include built-in GPS, water resistance to 50m and a dual-core processor.

I understand that it is not listed on the Apple website but a barometer was physically found in the Apple Watch Series 2. So I think we are still waiting for an answer on whether the barometer is functional.
It sounds like the answer is no, even though the sensor is there, and the design clearly had one in mind. I guess there were quality or firmware issues.
